Press-release on the Second Workshop Topical Scientific and Technological Issues of Uranium Production
28.01.2010On January 27-28, in Almaty the second workshop Topical Scientific and Technological Issues of Uranium Production is being held, the organizers of which are: NAC Kazatomprom JSC, Mining Company LLP, and Institute of High technologies LLP. The supporters of workshop are representative office of Purolite Int. Ltd in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, representative office of Rom and Haas, North-West Chemical Company CJSC, TREI-Karaganda LLP, National Center of High Technologies and Power Supply LLP, and Angstrem LLP.
The aim of workshop is consolidation of scientific, technological and production potentials of NAC Kazatomprom JSC and top technological home and foreign companies in scientific, technical and educational fields of uranium production development.
The main issues for discussion and taking decisions are as following:
- Uranium mineral resources base development strategy;
- Uranium production situation and perspective;
- Elaboration and realization of high technologies of uranium production and processing development programs;
- Rare earth elements production for nuclear industry;
- Environmental conservation;
- Nuclear and radiation security;
- Training of competent staff and knowledge management.
Executives and specialists from the MC LLP, UMP JSC, Volkovgeology JSC, SMCP LLP, MAEK-Kazatomprom LLP, APPAK LLP, JV Akbastau JSC, Baiken-U LLP, JV Betpak Dala LLP, Ken Dala KZ JSC, JV Inkai LLP, Karatau LLP, Kyzylkum LLP, JV Zarechnoe JSC, Semizbai-U LLP, Geotechnoservice LLP, KNU LLP and also uranium production experts from outside agencies took part in the workshop.
At the event, exhibition of workshop supporters’ expositions was held.
The key subject of the workshop is scientific and technological issues of intensification and optimization of uranium production. Realization routs of priorities of technical and technological policies of uranium industry, sulfuric acid supply for uranium production facilities and optimal selection of ion exchange resin and its use are discussed. The workshop participants carry out the analysis of mineral resources base situation of separate Kazakhstan uranium deposits and discuss introduced innovations in uranium and rare earth elements production for nuclear industry.
Also there are some issues about environmental conservation, nuclear and radiation security, training of competent staff and knowledge being discussed.
The workshop is ended by panel discussion where its participants will discuss introduced reports, summarize, and sign a protocol in which certain measures directed at the solution of topical scientific and technological tasks of home uranium production are represented.
