Press Release on the VIII Sports Contest

August 25th, sees the opening of the VIII Annual National Atomic Company «Kazatomprom» Sports Contest, at Almaty's Central Stadium.  This year close to 1,000 Kazakhstan uranium industry employees from the Kyzyl-Orda, South Kazakhstan, Mangistau, Akmola, East Kazakhstan and Almaty regions will take part in nine different sports and games - with 22 teams representing various business sub-divisions, affiliates, joint ventures and subsidiaries of NAC Kazatomprom.

Over the next five days they will compete in mini-football, volleyball, tennis, ping-pong, badminton, chess, blitz chess, track-and-field athletics and billiards, culminating in an award ceremony on August 30th when NAC Kazatomprom will honour the VIII Sports Contest prizewinners.

The sports tournament is a corporate event of prime importance for JSC NAC Kazatomprom, uniting over 25,000 personnel and demonstrating the commitment of the company's staff to an active and healthy lifestyle as well as promoting sports values in Kazakhstan society.  It is also seen as an effective means of strengthening corporate culture and establishing friendly relations between people from different enterprises acting in different regions and different fields.
