Press Release: Performance of Public Consultations in Suzak Region of South-Kazakhstan Oblast

National Atomic Company Kazatomprom performed public consultations in respect to the business at Zapadny (Western) and Tsentralny (Central) sites of Mynkuduk deposit, site no. 4 of Inkai deposit and site no. 2 of Budenovskoye deposit with support of Akimat (executive state authority) of Kyzymshek settlement, Suzak region, South-Kazakhstan Oblast.

The representatives of local state authorities, mass media, non-governmental organizations including representatives of the Council of Veterans of Kyzymshek settlement, parents' committee of the settlement, Women Council, political parties, such as Otan, Asar, and Azamat, Youth Society of the settlement, branch of the republican non-governmental organization Trade union of employees of nuclear energy, industry and related spheres of the Republic of Kazakhstan, public of the settlement and neighboring settlements, and representatives of JSC NAC Kazatomprom and its affiliates participated in public consultations.

The mentioned uranium deposits are located in Shu-Sarussu uranium ore province is amenable for in-situ leaching, which is the most environmental-friendly and cost effective method of mining development for today. Development of mines means detailed exploration and drilling, and then construction of mines and operations.

Launching of Central Mynkuduk mine is scheduled for 2007, and it will achieve planned capacity in the amount of 2000 tons of uranium concentrates per year by 2010. Launching of Western Mynkuduk mine is scheduled for 2008, and it will achieve capacity in the amount of 1000 tons of uranium concentrates per year in 2012. Launching of mine in the site no. 4 of Inkai deposit is scheduled for 2007, and it will achieve planned capacity in the amount of 2000 tons of uranium concentrates per year in 2010. Launching of mine in the site no. 2 of Budenovskoye deposit is scheduled in 2008, and it will achieve planned capacity in the amount of 1000 tons of uranium concentrates per year in 2012. 

Projects on uranium mines development are fulfilled within the strategy worked out by Kazatomprom Company for the purpose to increase uranium production up to 15000 tons by 2010, and thus to provide the Company with the place number one in the world.
