28th of April 2006 according to the decision of a competition committee of the 3rd Republican inventions competition, National Atomic Company Kazatomprom, JSC and Institute of high technology, LLP will be awarded an honorable diploma “For a contribution to innovational development of Kazakhstan” for their “In-situ leaching uranium mining and processing method”. The Republican competition award ceremony will be held at the Mousrepov Kazakh State Academic Children’s theater building.

The aim of the competition – innovations and inventions stimulation, introduction of promising elaborations to production sector, raising the role of intellectual property in Kazakhstan, attracting investments into investments and innovations.

Let us remind you, that in-situ leaching method used by Kazatomprom, JSC is particularly safe from environmental viewpoint and is more profitable comparing to traditional mining methods, and is the most attractive method for its technological operations’ simplicity. This method allows the geological condition of entrails to be kept without any changes, since there’s no mining mass excavation. During the in-situ leaching process, less than 5% of radioactive elements are brought up to the surface and turned into mobile condition, while in traditional methods it is 100%. There is no more need in building tailing dumps for keeping highly radioactive waste.

Institute of High technology was created in 2002 for solving scientific, technical and technological problems of the atomic industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The founders of the institute are Kazatomprom, JSC, Ulba metallurgical plant, JSC and Volkovgeology, JSC.
