Press Release: Presentation of The Honorary 'Leader of Russian Economy' Award The President of Kazatomprom
25.02.2005Оn February 25, 2005, at 16.00, the ceremony of presentation of The Honorary 'Leader of Russian Economy' award to Mr. Moukhtar Dzhakishev, President of National Atomic Company Kazatomprom will be held in the Moscow city.
The Honorary 'Leader of Russian Economy' award is presented annually to the leading statesmen and public men, chiefs of federal ministries and authorities, managers of enterprises for the most remarkable contribution to the Russian economy development following the results of work for the calendar year.
The Honorary award was instituted by the organizational committee of the International Forum 'International Experience and Economy of Russia', which includes the representatives of the Russian Federation administration, federal ministries and authorities as well as famous scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences and heads of the Russian largest economic universities.
The honorary award represents a five-point star made of yellow metal with beams of divergent goldish rays where diamonds framed by olive branches are placed.
Among the rewarded by the Honorary award in different years were A. Miller, the Chairman of Board of OJSC Gazprom, A. Chubais, the Chairman of Board of Unified Energy System of the Russian Federation, Y. Luzhkov, Mayor of the Moscow city, etc. This year, for the first time, manager of kazakhstanian enterprise will be awarded for his contribution to Russian economy.
The annual turnover of Kazatomprom with Russian enterprises is about $22,5 mln. Nowadays, Kazatomprom supplies fuel pellets to Russian NPPs; implements the project for nuclear fuel fabrication for Ukrainian NPP within a frame of the Russian-Kazakhstanian-Ukrainian Joint Venture UKR TVS. Uranium is planned to be produced jointly with Russian partners within the JV 'Zarechnoye' on the deposit with the same name in South Kazakhstanian oblast. Moreover, Kazatomprom supplies beryllium products within the JV 'BerylliumUM' and tantalum products to Russian capacitor plants.
Since the end of 1998, Mr. Dzhakishev is the President of National Atomic Company Kazatomprom. Under his leadership, as a result of developed strategies realization, Kazatomprom has successfully resolved atomic industry problems available at the moment of the company establishment and put some new projects in order to strengthen its position in the world market. At present, the company's share in satisfaction of the world demand
- for uranium is 8% due to which it is on the 4th place in the world comparing to 16th place in 1999:
- for beryllium products is 29% due to which it is on the 2nd place in the world comparing to 3% in 1999;
- for tantalum products is 8% due to which it is on the 4th place in the world comparing to 0,4% in 1999.
By 2010 Kazatomprom aims to run its production volume up to 15000 per year which will make possible for it to become the leader of uranium industry.
