27.08.2004On August 19, 2004, the Ulba-China Co. Ltd. enterprise (??????????????) has been officially registered in Shanghai. It is 100% owned by OJSC Ulba Metallurgical Plant (OJSC UMP), Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, which is a subsidiary of the Kazakh National Nuclear Company KAZATOMPROM. The main purpose of the new enterprise is distribution of beryllium products in China and South-East Asian countries and to provide an adequate supply of beryllium products – copper, aluminum, and nickel based beryllium master alloys, beryllium oxide products, copper beryllium, etc. – to meet growing consumer requirements in China and South-East Asia. The new enterprise opens outreach of one of the major beryllium producers to this regional market and to be more responsive to customer needs. The beryllium plant of OJSC UMP is the World's second largest beryllium producer with full cycle processing – starting from ore concentrates to beryllium metal and its alloys.'
