The specialized company Kazatomprom-Demeu, subsidiary of National Atomic Company, became a winner of Annual National Charity Prize «Altyn Zhurek» in nomination «The best entity of the year».  The ceremony of prize award has taken place the day before, on October 27, in the building of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Almaty.

This event is held already for tree years under the auspices of the Administration Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The purpose of this contest is to find and stimulate the people and entities whose charitable activity has an inestimable effect on society development.

This time about 70 requests for participation in the contest were received from all over the Kazakhstan. Among total number of agonists the members of expert council have selected by three finalists in each of ten nominations. The organizations or companies which carried out the largest charity projects and actions, implemented new effective forms of charity assistance and became the general sponsors of socially important events are the prize winners in nomination «The best entity of the year».

It is naturally that Kazatomprom-Demeu was awarded with prestigious prize in the sphere of philanthropy. For the past five years the company has implemented over 55 projects to the amount of approximately 14,2 billion tenge, including construction, reconstruction and maintenance of kindergartens, schools,  health and cultural centers, medical institutions, construction of domestic houses, landscaping and site finishing projects.

 

Kazatomprom-Demeu LLP was established in 2004. As NAC Kazatomprom subsidiary, Demeu implements and operates social facilities. The main source of financing is an authorized fund established by NAC Kazatomprom and its foreign partners. Kazatomprom-Demeu objective is to improve welfare and life quality of Kazakh citizens. In 2008, the company won a prize in the first national contest for socially responsible business under the notion The Best Social Project of the Year.

 

Kazatomprom is the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special purpose equipment, technologies and double-use materials. The main activities of the company are: geological exploration, uranium production, manufacture of nuclear fuel cycle products, reactor construction, nuclear power plants, production of construction materials, the electric energy sector, scientific support of production and social welfare and training of personnel.
