Kazatomprom-Demeu LLP has opened its affiliates in three industrial communities, namely, Kyzymshek, Taukent and Shieli, in the South-Kazakhstani and Kzylordinskaya oblasts for the purpose of implementing social, charitable, cultural, educational and other socially useful programs.

The first significant event held by Kazatomprom-Demeu jointly with akimats of districts and communities and managers of the Mining Groups was celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Victory (Victory Day) in the Great Patriotic War.

As a part of the Victory Day celebration, since mid-April various recreative sports for children and adults took place. Kazatomprom-Demeu purchased and delivered all necessary sport equipment and facilities. Company's initiatives are aimed at supporting the development of sport and organization of amusing leisure for the communities' inhabitants.   

An opening ceremony of the new playground built and equipped by Kazatomprom-Demeu took place in the Shiely settlement. Meanwhile, it is the first sign in this direction, and three equipped playgrounds in each Mining Group are to be built this year.

As a part of celebratory events, top management of Kazatomprom-Demeu has resumed the results of the English language Olympiad held for pupils of the communities. As a consequence of, seven winners have been selected, and in summer 2005, they will go for training to England to improve their skills in English. Organizers are planning to hold such an event every year.

Further, a physical laboratory has been presented to the lyceum No.127 in Shieli, and training hardware - to the "Ak Kogershin" rehabilitation center for handicapped children and their mothers.

Kazatomprom-Demeu also arranged for charitable dinners in honor of the Great Patriotic War veterans and disabled veterans. Executives of the Company expressed their gratitude and congratulations and presented large money gifts to all the war veterans and participants living in the areas where NAC Kazatomprom's Mining Groups are located. Festive concerts by amateur art groups, performance of young talents and public festivals closed by the youth disco took place in main streets, brightly decorated with banners, flags and balloon garlands.
