The International Research-to-Practice Conference “Topical issues of uranium industry” opened today in Almaty. About 270 delegates from 16 countries such as Kazakhstan, France, Russia, USA, China, Germany, England, Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Australia, Egypt and etc. are taking part in the event.

One of the main aims of the conference is to assist the nuclear industry enterprises all over the world in their scientific and technical integration.
At present, nuclear power is seen as a driving force of the world progress. Kazatomprom, being engaged in the world processes of energy supply, implements its strategy on building the transnational vertically integrated company that would participate in all stages of nuclear fuel cycle: natural uranium mining and processing, conversion and enrichment, fuel assemblies fabrication and construction of safe nuclear power plants.
Global trend of nuclear power development presupposes the necessity of scientific and technical integration of all uranium companies worldwide. Therefore, the organization of such kind of conferences is of great importance. In general, representatives of 103 organizations will join the discussions, more than 100 reports and presentations are to be presented to the audience. Next three days will be devoted to the discussion of innovations in uranium industry, uranium production perspectives; advanced mining technologies mastering; nuclear power and reactor construction; perspectives of rare and rare earth elements production for nuclear industry; nuclear fuel cycles issues. In addition, the consideration will be given to the issues of environmental safety, development of renewable and alternative sources of energy, nuclear and radiation safety, qualified staff training and all the aspects that contribute to the successful nuclear industry development.
Given that the Republic of Kazakhstan plays an important role as one of world’s key uranium producer, the perspectives of uranium mining sector of the country are to be paid special attention to.
Today’s International Research-to-Practice Conference “Topical issues of uranium industry” is the 6th one hosted by NAC Kazatomprom JSC in Almaty, and as always it attracted the world’s key specialists of the nuclear power complex.
