Kazatomprom has mined 8% of the world uranium mining in 2002.

According to the annual report of World Nuclear Association (London) which was received yesterday, National Atomic Company 'Kazatomprom' is at the fourth place of uranium mining companies. French company 'COGEMA' (19% of world mining), Canadian 'CAMECO' (17%) and Australian 'ERA' (11%) are among top three gold uranium producers. Kazakhstan Company mined 8% of world share in 2002 that amounts 2,800 tons of uranium. So, Kazatomprom achieves fourth position on uranium mining in comparison with fifth position in 2001.

The company increased volumes of uranium mining due to development of old deposits - Uvanas, Vostochny Minkuduk, Kanzhugan, Moinkum, Severny Karamurun, and setting into operation of new deposits - Yuzhny Karamurun and Yuzhny Moinkum. The Company has the program goals to increase the natural uranium mining volume up to 15 ths tons to 2028 in order for Kazakhstan to come to the first place in the world in this sphere.

Increase of uranium mining is planned based upon explored but not developed deposits - Zarechnoye, Zhalpak, Irkol with total reserves of 2 ths tons, Centralny Minkuduk with reserves of 81 ths tons, Kharasan with reserves of 160 ths tons, part of Inkai deposit with reserves of 130 ths tons, and the unique Budennovskoye deposit with probable reserves of 300 ths tons.
