Kazatomprom presented renewed children’s health camp in the Eastern-Kazakhstan oblast

On July 8 Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC (UMP – the subsidiary of Kazatomprom) made presentation of renewed children’s health camp (CHC) belonging to the plant named after Alexander Matrosov within the frame of  action “20 acts of kindness” devoted to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.
 
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Berdybek Saparbayev, Akim of Eastern-Kazakhstan oblast (EKO), Vladimir Shkolnik, CEO of Kazatomprom, Bakhytzhan Zhymagulov, RK Minister of Education and Science, Jury Shakhvorostov, UMP Acting Chairman and other officials, public members.
 
The renovation of CHC has been started after signing by the Head of Kazatomprom and EKO Akim the Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation for reconstruction of CHC in autumn 2009.
 
The renewed health camp is designed to place comfortably about 400 campers during each summer camp visit. In winter this camp can accommodate 40 persons. The most part of old buildings are dismantled and new ones are built on their place. 19 cottages are prepared to accommodate children, among them 13 cottages are quite new and six – are reconstructed. New buildings are equipped with toilets and shower cabins.
 
All buildings have rooms for games and information & educational work with children, which are equipped with LCD panels and other necessary devices. 
 
The canteen is also newly constructed and it is designed for simultaneous meals of all children visiting CHC.
 
Sports & Health center includes a wide range of sport-grounds and sports facilities including football field, two ready-made swimming pools, areas for roller-skating,  track and field, gymnastics and playing fields. All work is done with the advice on creating living environments, accessible to disabled children.

The principal changes are made ​​to the design of engineering structures and networks of CHC. It is provided the complete biological treatment of domestic sewage with station built for its collection and transfer, transformer stations and other facilities of camp power supply, water intake facilities. The hot water will be provided by means of local electric water heaters. It is planned to provide electric heating of dormitories in cool weather and even in the summer time.

The measures were taken to prevent flooding of camp territory. The protection dike is restored and strengthened. The foundations of buildings are made with account of possible rise of ground waters.
 
Matrosov Children’s Health Camp is one of the oldest children’s health complexes of Eastern Kazakhstan located in the area of Gornaya Ulbinka. During its existence about 120 thousand children visited this camp. This year it will be 59 years of camp existence.
