Geotechnology

Kyrgyz-Kazakh Regional Training Center (RTC) “Geotechnology” was created in 2002 based on Central Research Laboratory (CRL) of OJSC “Karabaltinski Mining and Chemical Complex”.

Founders: OJSC “Karabaltinski Mining and Chemical Complex” (OJSC “KMCC”, Kyrgyzstan), National Atomic Company 'Kazatomprom' (JSC NAC “Kazatomprom”, Kazakhstan).

Maintasks

Main tasks of RTC “Geotechnology” is organization and carrying-out of permanent training of subprofessionals in accordance with international standards and quality control system implementation at facilities, including all required directive documents. Training will be carried out in Karabalta (based on instruction and production rooms of RTC “Geotechnology” and CRL of OJSC “KMCC”) and in-service training will be carried out at the facilities of customer (on sites).

Training
RTC 'Geotechnology' has the licenses АШ No.878 , АШ No. 675 of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Kyrgyzstan, special permission No.01-03/1-557 of State Inspection of industrial safety supervision and mines inspectorate under the Ministry of Ecology and emergency situations of Kyrgyzstan, Intergovernmental Agreements between Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the spheres of education, labor safety, health and environmental safety, which confer a right to raise staff qualification in the following specialties:

  • Analysts of physicochemical analysis;
  • Hydrometallurgical production operators;
  • Geotechnology operators at ISL sites;
  • Wells servicing operators;
  • Wells survey operators;
  • Refinery production operators;
  • Precious metals production operators;
  • Precious metals melters.

Training methods material including lectures and demonstration handout paper and electronic material (wall charts, diagrams, illustrations, and schemes) has been worked out for training in each specialty.

  • The training program of RTC “Geotechnology” includes:
  • Main requirements of Quality System of the International and State Standards;
  • Production processes basics;
  • General chemistry basics;
  • Analytical chemistry basics;
  • ISL technology brief description;
  • Basics of geology and hydrogeology of ISL developed uranium deposits;
  • Principal conditions of ISL application;
  • Development systems applied for ISL;
  • Calculations of geotechnological parameters;
  • Geophysical methods of wells research at ISL;
  • ISL technological solutions specification;
  • Means of uranium extraction from eluate;
  • Methods of uranium concentrates sampling and samples preparation;
  • Main analysis methods used when processing of uranium and gold-containing feed;
  • Technological process automation and control;
  • General concepts of safety measures;
  • Environmental measures;
  • Computer user course;
  • Practical works.
At the same time, each of the declared specialties is accompanied by advanced course for main subjects.
Each specialty provides practical, control works and abstracts preparation.

To estimate training results there are tests for each specialty containing 8 - 12 questions in each version. There are 3-4 answers for each question, one of which is correct. There is also a task requiring to make chemical or technological calculations and containing safety measures questions. Quality system has separate tests.

On training term completion, RTC “Geotechnology” and human resources specialists arrange final testing, and named certificates are issued in accordance with the results.

For training, RTC “Geotechnology” attracts highly professional experts of OJSC “KMCC”, Geology and Mineral Resources State Agency (Kyrgyz Republic), NAC “Kazatomprom” (the Republic of Kazakhstan), Tomski Polytechnical University (the Russian Federation) and other organizations, and also uses rich archives of OJSC 'KMCC' CRL, containing information on geology of deposits of uranium, gold and other elements of the republics of Central Asia, Russian Federation and China, in-situ leaching geotechnology, hydrometallurgical processing of uranium, gold and rare-metal feed.

RTC 'Geotechnology' has large technical library with the whole number 300 thousand technical books, a reading hall. 10-15 persons can be in the library at one time. There are personal computers, scanners, printers and catalogue for fast access to the required book.
