In the course of its production activity, the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom is fully aware of its social responsibility for the maintenance of a healthy environment and for the efficient use of natural resources.
 
The priorities for Kazatomprom are the ensuring of safe labor conditions, protection of the health of company personnel (and the general population living in the area of company operation) and the prevention of possible radiological and chemical impact on the environment.
 
In its activity in the sphere of labor and environmental protection, the company pursues the following aims:
  • Production operation in accordance with ecological laws, and other regulations, in effect in the Republic of Kazakhstan ;
  • Organization of facility, personnel and population radiation safety;
  • Minimization of operational influence on facilities, personnel and the environment;
  • Constant improvement of labour conditions and the minimization of its facilities' operational influence on the environment;
  • Prevention of industrial accidents and ecological risks;
  • Efficient use of natural resources;
  • Constant improvement of available (and adoption of new) technologies, taking into account technical and ecological safety;
  • Constant cooperation with government authorized agencies and international organizations in the sphere of labour and environmental protection;
  • Informing the population on labour conditions, personnel and population radiation safety and possible environmental impact.
  • To achieve these goals, Kazatomprom constantly administers and analyzes nuclear, radiation and technical safety and labour and environmental protection status together with labour and environmental protection service work at all units and facilities of the company.
Annually, the facilities work out environmental protection measures and coordinate them with authorized agencies whereupon production facilities are promptly certified.
 
The company constantly carries out industrial, ecological and radiation monitoring, which is an integral part of its general environmental control. This responsibility for ecological and radiation monitoring services, equipped with analytical, dosimetry and radiometric instrumentation for qualification measures of parameters is in accordance with prescribed industrial and radiation monitoring.
 
All Kazatomprom facilities have elaborated and confirmed a declaration of industrial assets safety. To eliminate the possible effects of accidents, certified specialized divisions, including dispatch services with operational communication with the company head office and emergency situations ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been brought into being.
 
Kazatomprom's facilities are constantly improving systems of labor and environmental protection control and applying advanced experience on ecological management, occupational safety and personnel health management. Fifteen of the facilities of Kazatomprom are certified under the ISO -14001 and OHSAS- 18001 international standards.
