concerning the VI International scientific-practical conference
“Contemporary issues of the uranium industry”
taken place in Almaty, RIXOS-Almaty Hotel, on September 14-16, 2010
 
The participants from fifteen countries: Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, France, Germany, USA, England, Norway, China, Mongolia, Switzerland, Finland and Australia, gathered at nuclear forum in Kazakhstan in RIXOS-Almaty Hotel with the aim of integration of the world uranium companies in scientific-technical and production sphere.
 
Organizing Committee of the VI International scientific-practical conference “Contemporary issues of the uranium industry” expresses its appreciation to Forum delegates who devoted their precious time and actively participated in the work of the Conference, for their interesting presentations containing useful and  cognitive information, for their help and assistance rendered to the Secretariat: promptly submission of necessary information and papers with scientific calculations, graphs, diagrams, illustrations made in accordance with the printing requirements. All participants of the conference showed a keen genuine interest towards the reports of all speakers and presentations. Violent discussions of the speeches, remarks and wishes of the Conference participants were vivid sign of usefulness and efficiency of this event, along with its necessity at the current stage in epoch of rapid nuclear industry development.
 
Organizing Committee extends its great appreciation to all participants of the Round-Table who expressed warm words of gratitude to the organizers for orderly organization and perfect conduct of this event, for their respect and care shown.  
 
It should be noted that for attendance in the VI International Conference the Organizing Committee invited the leaders of uranium, atomic and rare-earth metal industry. About 300 delegates from 99 enterprises, companies and organizations: Kazakhstan – 43, Russia – 26, Ukraine -2, Uzbekistan -2, Kyrgyzstan – 5, foreign companies -21, attended the Conference.
 
The subjects concerning technologies of uranium production and manufacturing of uranium products, technologies and problems of nuclear-fuel cycles; geological, environmental and industrial safety issues, production of less-common elements for atomic industry, nuclear power and reactor construction were discussed at the Conference. Such issues as renewable and alternative energy sources were included in the Conference program for the first time. The focus was made on the problems of nuclear and radiation security, training and retraining of qualified personnel for uranium mining industry and nuclear power and on the aspects concerning successful functioning of entire nuclear industry complex.
 
During Round-table in the course of presentations, discussions and exchange of opinions it was pointed out and proposed the following:
- the first priority tasks with respect to topical problems connected with technology of uranium mining and manufacturing of uranium products; technologies and problems of nuclear-fuel cycles; geological, environmental and industrial safety issues, production of less-common elements for atomic industry, nuclear power and reactor construction were defined;
- the most important problems of nuclear and radiation security were stated;
- it was proposed to place particular emphasis on renewable and alternative energy sources and expand the circle of those who will participate with this theme in the next conference;
- it was proposed to pay attention to training and retraining of the personnel for uranium industry and nuclear power and to invite students of profile departments of Kazakhstan universities for participation in the next conference without payment of arrangement fees;
- it was noted that there were no reports on contemporary issues of organizing the protection of the sites of nuclear industrial complex, on legal, regulatory and macro economical aspects.
 
At the end of the Round-Table the awarding of employees of Kazakhstan Nuclear Society with a Badge of Honor “Distinguished member of atomic industry of Kazakhstan” was held and the Memorandum between the Institute of High Technologies LLP and Mongolian Atomic Power Agency was signed.
 
The Conference was ended with a city tour with visiting of Almaty falcon farm.
 
Traditionally the next VII International Scientific-Research Conference “Contemporary Issues of the Uranium Industry” will take place in September, 2012. The place and date will be specified and informed later to all potential participants of nuclear forum of Kazakhstan.
