National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC (“Kazatomprom” or “the Company”) places particular emphasis on the development of human capital and the support of young professionals.
This year, for the first time in Kazakhstan, a Bachelor's degree program in “Uranium Industry” is being launched at the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU). The specialised academic program was developed with the active involvement of Kazatomprom experts and leading university faculty, taking into account the specific needs of the nuclear sector.
This forward-looking initiative of Kazatomprom offers future students the opportunity to gain a solid foundation in uranium industry knowledge and graduate as qualified professionals.
The first intake for this program is scheduled for 2025.
Kazatomprom also announces the launch of new cohorts for its corporate programs MURAGER and IZBASAR, aimed at building and maintaining a strong talent pool for the industry.
The MURAGER program, established in 2023, focuses on expanding opportunities for young people to acquire in-demand qualifications. Under this program, Kazatomprom provides educational grants for applicants, college graduates, and 1st to 3rd year university students from the Akmola, Kyzylorda, Turkistan, and East Kazakhstan regions. Priority is given to disciplines that are core to the nuclear industry: uranium production and mining, geological exploration, nuclear fuel cycle, scientific research, energy, ecology, and environmental protection.
Over the course of two years, 53 grants have been awarded under the MURAGER program. Applications for this year will be accepted until 15 August inclusive.
The IZBASAR program was setup in 2020 to attract talented university graduates and support their subsequent employment within the Company.
The program includes three five-month rotations at Kazatomprom enterprises. It is open to both external candidates and current Kazatomprom employees from among young professionals, provided their specialisation is aligned with priority areas: uranium production and mining, geological exploration, nuclear fuel cycle, scientific research, IT and cybersecurity, ecology and environmental protection, HR and marketing, economics and finance.
Kazatomprom pays for the internship for all participants, which is a significant benefit for young professionals starting their careers.
Since its launch, more than 40 participants have successfully completed the IZBASAR program, most of whom subsequently received job offers at Kazatomprom enterprises.
Applications for the IZBASAR program are open until 30 June inclusive.
Kazatomprom remains committed to supporting education and youth development, contributing to the creation of a highly qualified talent pool and investing in the strategic future of Kazakhstan and the global nuclear industry.
