To give effect to the principles of socially-responsible business, Kazatomprom and Akimat of South-Kazakhstan oblast signed a Memorandum on Cooperation under socio-economic development of South-Kazakhstan oblast for 2015-2016 in Astana on December 22nd, 2014. The document was signed by Kazatomprom’s CEO Nurlan Kapparov and akim of South-Kazakhstan oblast Askar Myrzakhmetov.
According to the agreement, National atomic company undertakes obligations on socio-infrastructural development, enhancing the well-being and living standards of the citizens of the region.
«NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC will participate in the activities for social and economic stabilization of the region, including the activities aimed at protection of labor rights of the employees of the Company’s subsidiaries, creation of new and preservation of existing jobs.
Under the Memorandum, the Company transfers social facilities reflected in its balance sheet to municipal ownership of South-Kazakhstan oblast. These are: two 40-bed and 30-bed medical units, 2 kindergartens for 160 and 280 places, 2 cultural and sports centers, 2 hotels, offices of affiliated organizations, «Taukent-Energoservice» LLP, located in Taukent and Kyzemshek villages. In 2015-2016 Kazatomprom will allocate funds to maintain these buildings in the amount KZT 2 billion.
The company will also finance the construction of social facilities in the region to the amount KZT 1,6 billion.
In 2015 in order to increase the effectiveness of the Company, relocation from Almaty to Shymkent of offices of “NAC “Kazatomprom” JSC’s subsidiaries, operating in South-Kazakhstan oblast, will take place. The construction of business center for grouping together the affiliates and subsidiaries is planned. Relocation of offices of the companies to the region will give additional impetus for development and create “social lifts” to the citizens of the region.
