Askar Zhumagaliyev meets Rosatom’s Chief

Kazatomprom’s CEO Askar Zhumagaliyev, during his visit to the Russian Federation, held a meeting with the General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko, where a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the nuclear field was discussed.

Askar Zhumagaliyev and Sergey Kiriyenko talked over the most relevant issues of interindustrial relations, shared views about the progress in implementation of the Comprehensive Program in the sphere of  peaceful uses of atomic energy.

The parties touched upon the key aspects of supplying Russian reactors with Kazakhstani uranium by the joint ventures Karatau LLP, JV Akbastau JSC and JV Zarechnoye  JSC. According to the results of 2014, these companies produced more than 4.5 thous. tU.

Among the important themes of the meeting was the cooperation in uranium enrichment. The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the sphere of alternative energy and rare and rare earth metals production.

In conclusion, Askar Zhumagaliyev invited Sergey Kiriyenko to take an active part in the Specialized international exhibition Astana EXPO-2017 under the theme «Energy of the Future», which will be held in Astana from June 10 till September 10, 2017. This project is aimed to attract global community’s attention on effective use of energy resources, development of renewable and alternative energy sources, including the atomic energy. Kazatomprom’s CEO noted that Rosatom, being the largest company in the global nuclear market, may present its advanced nuclear technologies. 

The same day Askar Zhumagaliyev held a number of meetings with the heads of the largest companies of the Russian Federation TVEL JSC and Techsnabexport JSC where the issues of further cooperation have been discussed.
