NAC Kazatomprom JSC (“Kazatomprom” or “the Company”) reports the following information regarding a recent report from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding an investigation into a criminal group that was engaged in embezzlement from certain Company subsidiaries.
The law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan detained a group of people suspected of stealing petrol, lubricants and other industrial inventory items (all non-uranium related) from Kazatomprom subsidiaries in the Turkestan region. Pre-trial investigations have been launched under Articles 197, 287 and 296 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kazatomprom is guided in its activities by the principles of openness, transparency and zero tolerance for any illegal and unethical actions. The Company works to prevent and counteract such illegal actions through specific internal controls, audits and mitigation on a systematic basis.
The Company is cooperating with law enforcement to provide any necessary assistance in the investigation, which is currently underway. Due to the ongoing work by authorities, further information is not being disclosed at this time.
