Foreign investors are interested in  Rare Metal Company

Foreign investors are interested in acquiring the share of Kazatomprom in KT Rare Metal Company LLP, Kazatomprom’s press service said.

Kazatomprom leaves open the possibility of transferring the major participatory interest (51 percent) in the company, which is engaged in construction of Fort-Shevchenko wind power plant, with the capacity of 42.9 MW, in Tupkaraganskiy district of Mangistau region, to the foreign investors.

According to the Director of Corporate Governance Department Marat Tulebayev, key points that attract the potential buyers are the land plot of 190 ha in square with an advantageous site for a wind power plant construction, rented by the Rare Metal Company for 49 years, and possibility to sign a long-term contract with LLP "Accounting and Finance Center for supporting renewable sources of energy" for a guaranteed sale of energy at a fixed rate of 24 KZT/kWh. Besides, the company has already have technical specifications and approvals for connecting the WPP to a grid.

As Kazatomprom’s representative say, the third reverse auction is to take place on January 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at a web-portal of the State Property Registry. This means that the buyer may acquire the asset at a cost that is at least 50% lower than the market one. Today, a starting price for 51 % share in the charter capital is KZT 98,673,000.

It should be noted that TOSHIBA Corporation is the second participant (49 %) of KT Rare Metal Company LLP. WPP construction project has been included into the resolution of Kazakhstan’s Government "About approval of Action Plan for development of alternative and renewable energy in Kazakhstan for 2013-2020".
