Kazatomprom signs a uranium supply contract with EDF

National Atomic Company «Kazatomprom» and «Électricité de France» (EDF) have executed a contract for the supply of natural uranium [1]. This contract continues a long-term relationship, which started 10 years ago.

The commercial contract was signed during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to France. The signing ceremony was attended by the Head of the National Atomic Company Askar Zhumagaliyev.

According to the contract, Kazatomprom is going to supply 4 500 tU of natural uranium concentrates to EDF in the period from 2021 to 2025.  

It is worth to note, that EDF is a strategically important partner for Kazakh National Atomic Company on European market.

«Électricité de France» is the world’s largest operator of nuclear power plants.  

Besides, during the visit Kazatomprom’s CEO Askar Zhumagaliyev met with Philippe Knoche, AREVA Chief Executive Officer to discuss the implementation of the joint projects and further development of cooperation in the nuclear industry.
