As part of the working visit of the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the People’s Republic of China the Chairman of the Board of NAC Kazatomprom JSC Askar Zhumagaliyev, the Chairman of CGNPC Zhang Shanmin, the CEO of Ulba metallurgical plant JSC Yuri Shakhvorostov and the General Manager of CGNPC-URC Cai Yusheng had signed the agreement on nuclear fuel pellets supply.
According to the agreement details, Kazakhstan will supply nuclear fuel pellets to Chinese utilities in 2016-2018 period. The volume of nuclear pellets shown in the contract is 180 tons. The parties had also discussed and agreed upon the timings of purchase of nuclear fuel pellets produced in Kazakhstan by 2024.
These agreements will provide Ulba metallurgical plant JSC with an operational activity for a closer future perspective.
It should be reminded, that earlier on NAC Kazatomprom JSC and Chinese CGNPC signed the Agreement of commercial terms for design and construction of FA production plant in Kazakhstan. A new enterprise expected to produce fuel assemblies for Chinese NPPs, with the capacity of 200 tons FA per year.
