Kazatomprom concludes HSE results for 2023

National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC hosted the XXVI HSE corporate meeting dedicated to the safety performance in 2023 and goals for 2024. Kazatomprom employees and management, as well as its subsidiaries and affiliates, representatives of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and its portfolio companies, partners and other stakeholders attended the event.

Health, safety and environmental protection, including nuclear and radiation safety, are priorities for the atomic holding. Kazatomprom is the first national company in Kazakhstan to join the international Vision Zero program, the goal of which is to achieve zero injuries at the workplace. The company continuously improves the safety culture of employees following the principle of transparency in all aspects of HSE.

Arman Argingazin, Chairman of Kazatomprom’s Board of Directors, noted that the company pays special attention to health and safety of each employee and emphasized the importance of the environmental friendliness.

“Ecological responsibility remains a key aspect in Kazatomprom’s work. Facing the global climate challenges, we recognize the importance of rational use of natural resources and try to minimize our impact on the environment. The сompany committed not only to comply with international environmental standards, but also to be a leader in best practices and innovative approaches to achieve a constant reduction of the environmental impact,” said Arman Argingazin.

Meirzhan Yussupov, CEO of Kazatomprom, noted that all HSE targets were fulfilled, as well as some indicators in terms of ecology and road safety improved significantly compared to the previuos period.

“The company continues development of the safety and environmental responsibility culture, and also improves its HSE activities, including the use of IT technologies and a risk-based approach in planning and organizing the work. Involvement in HSE issues of production personnel and managers at all levels is a crucial factor to improve  the corporate safety culture”, said Meirzhan Yussupov.

During the event employees and enterprises of the nuclear holding were awarded for the achievements in the HSE field. According to the results of the competition named “Best Enterprise in Occupational Safety”, the 1st place was awarded to Karatau LLP, the 2nd place - to Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC and the 3rd place to JV SMCC LLP. Also, CEO of Kazatomprom awarded employees of enterprises with high safety indicators.

Kazatomprom will continue to create safe conditions for employees and the population in the regions of its presence, preserving the natural environment and ensuring the rational use of natural resources.
