Kazatomprom Participates in the 69th IAEA General Conference

On 15 September, the 69th Session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) opened in Vienna, Austria. Each year, the event brings together representatives of more than 170 IAEA Member States to discuss key nuclear industry developments.

As part of the conference, an exhibition featuring the national pavilion of Kazakhstan is being held. The official opening of the Kazakh booth was honored by the presence of the IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi who highlighted the country’s contribution to the development of peaceful nuclear energy:

“Today we see the outstanding achievements of Kazakhstan’s nuclear industry, the success of which became possible as a result of the high professionalism of the national specialists. Your country plays an important role in the global nuclear fuel cycle not only due to its leading role in uranium production, but also through the implementation of advanced solutions. The IAEA greatly values this contribution and stands ready to support Kazakhstan at every stage of the peaceful development of nuclear energy.”

Almasadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy, emphasized the country’s strategic vision:

“For us, participation at this exhibition is an opportunity to demonstrate that nuclear technologies go far beyond energy. They are becoming a powerful driver of progress in science, medicine, industry, and environmental protection. That is why we firmly believe that the future of nuclear energy must be safe, innovative, and open to cooperation.”

Within the framework of the conference, Kazatomprom organized a side event “In-Situ Recovery and the Future of Uranium Mining.” The ISR method used by the company is recognized by the IAEA as the most environmentally friendly and efficient way of uranium production.

Kazatomprom plays an important role in shaping the future of global nuclear energy. Our expertise and resources allow us to make a significant contribution to the transition to clean energy and to strengthening international energy security. Participation in the IAEA conference and dialogue with partners reaffirm that only through joint efforts we can ensure a sustainable future for the nuclear industry,”

- said Marat Tulebayev, First Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer of Kazatomprom.

The 69th Session of the IAEA General Conference will continue until 19 September. Its program includes plenary sessions, thematic meetings, and bilateral discussions. The outcomes of the conference will shape a number of key decisions defining the future development of the global nuclear industry.
