Kazatomprom employees donate a day’s salary to medical personnel involved in the fight against coronavirus

JSC National Atomic Company "Kazatomprom" ("Kazatomprom" or "the Company") is supporting government and business initiative to combat the coronavirus outbreak. Due to the state of emergency in the country, the company's employees have decided to provide financial assistance by donating a day’s salary to the medical workers of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, who are fighting against the spread of the pandemic in Kazakhstan. The funds will provide further financial support to medics and will also be used to purchase necessary protective equipment.

In addition, Kazatomprom and its partner - French state company Orano decided to transfer 50 million Tenge from the Kazakhstan-French joint venture KATCO to the social fund Birgemiz which was founded at the initiative of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev for supporting the population in distress during the coronavirus outbreak. KATCO is also buying 6 ventilators for the hospitals in Turkestan and Shymkent (3 for each city) at a total cost of 100 million Tenge. Medical equipment will be delivered from USA within 2 months.

Due to the spread of coronavirus in many parts of the world, including Kazakhstan, Kazatomprom is taking a number of preventive measures to protect employees and their families.

Kazatomprom and all its subsidiaries and affiliates have approved plans of action to ensure continuous operation during the epidemiological risk. Operational headquarters have been established to constantly monitor the situation. All employees are familiar with the protocol in case they start showing the symptoms of coronavirus.

All head office employees are now working from home. In addition, all travel, both outside and within the country, as well as any internal direct contact has been restricted.

The head office employees and subsidiaries have been provided with the necessary protective equipment (masks, respirators, gloves). Doctors are working at the production facilities, conducting thorough medical examinations.

The health and well-being of employees is an absolute priority for Kazatomprom, therefore this situation is under direct oversight of the management of the Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Kazatomprom will continue to update all stakeholders of any changes related to COVID-19 and/or related consequences for the Company's operations.
