On August 24-25, 2015 NAC Kazatomprom Chief executive officer Askar Zhumagaliyev visited Vienna, Austria.
During his meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and its peaceful use were discussed. The head of the IAEA was informed about the nuclear industry development plans in Kazakhstan. It was highlighted that Kazatomprom company has intentions to maintain its leading positions on uranium production in the world. The sides exchanged views on prospects for the global uranium market and the production of nuclear fuel. There were reviewed practical issues of establishing the IAEA Low enriched uranium Bank in Kazakhstan.
In the framework of its visit Askar Zhumagaliyev held a meeting with Richard Schenz, Vice President of Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and discussed perspectives of expanding bilateral economic cooperation including the field of renewable energy. Representatives of Austria expressed interest in the development of bilateral cooperation.
