
NAC Kazatomprom JSC hosted the XXVII HSE corporate meeting dedicated to the safety performance in 2024 and goals for 2025. Kazatomprom employees and management, as well as its subsidiaries and affiliates, members of the Board of Directors, representatives of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and its portfolio companies, the branch trade union of nuclear industry workers and other stakeholders attended the event.
Occupational safety remains a key priority for Kazatomprom. It encompasses labor protection, environmental protection, industrial, radiation, nuclear, fire, and transportation safety, civil defense, as well as measures for preventing and responding to emergencies.
Following the results of 2024, Kazatomprom secured first place among the portfolio companies of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund for its HSE achievements. This success was made possible by the high engagement of employees, the professionalism of occupational safety specialists, and the company's strong commitment to a corporate culture of workplace safety. Personal and collective responsibility are key principles of this culture: every employee has the right to make safety-conscious decisions and report not only actual incidents but also potential risks. This approach contributes to the continuous improvement of working conditions, the reduction of workplace injuries, and the prevention of accidents.
Arman Argingazin, Chairman of Kazatomprom’s Board of Directors, noted that the company pays special attention to health and safety of each employee and emphasized the importance of the environmental friendliness.
"Holding this event has become an important tradition for Kazatomprom. It provides an opportunity to review the year’s results, assess achievements, learn valuable lessons, and outline future plans. Our approach to safety is not only about protecting the health of our employees and the environment for future generations but also a key factor in ensuring efficient and stable operations. Enterprises with a high level of safety culture consistently demonstrate superior operational performance," said Arman Argingazin.
Meirzhan Yussupov, CEO of Kazatomprom, noted that all 2024 HSE targets were fulfilled, and in terms of LTIFR, the best results were achieved compared to previous years.
“Kazatomprom will continue to develop the safety and environmental responsibility culture. Work in this area will be based on the best international practices, risk-based approaches, and the widespread use of IT and artificial intelligence. Special attention will be paid to the leadership and involvement of business leaders, as well as to raising awareness and competence of employees in HSE issues”, said Meirzhan Yussupov.
During the event employees and enterprises of the nuclear holding were awarded for the achievements in the HSE field. According to the results of the competition named “Best Enterprise in Occupational Safety”, the 1st place was awarded to Semizbay-U LLP, the 2nd place - to Volkovgeology JSC and the 3rd place to APPAK LLP. Additionally, employees who made a significant contribution to the development of safety culture and compliance with HSE standards were honored with the Kazatomprom’s CEO Award.
The company intends to continue introducing advanced technologies, reducing environmental risks, and ensuring safe working conditions for employees and local communities in its areas of operation, while maintaining high standards of occupational safety and sustainable development.
